The public discourse on Muslims, particularly Muslim women, continues to be delineated mainly between two camps or frames:

1. A global frame shaped by media in which Muslim women are oppressed and need to be liberated; towards Muslim men as terrorist and male politics being enacted on women’s bodies.
2. An internal frame shaped by Muslims which tends to be apologetic.

This conference will offer a safe space to exchange views and ideas beyond these frames, aiming to create engagement that is not apologetic.
